State, county and municipal highway departments have been plagued for years by seizure problems with the chains, augers and interior box corrosion of tail gate and V-bottom salt spreaders that dispense ice control chemicals. The increasing use of aggressive de-icers such as calcium chloride, compound this problem.
Unfortunately, the only thing that seemed to offer any help with the rusted chains, although it didn't eliminate the problem, was USED MOTOR OIL; now labeled by E.P.A. as "HAZARDOUS WASTE," leaving it uanavailable for use. Although the source of used motor oil went away, the problem with the spreader chains did not!

Spreader chains and interior of spreader boxes, tail gate or V-bottom, rust and corrode during off season storage. Also, soil contamination underneath spreaders is a major E.P.A concern.

After removing spreaders from the trucks in spring, they are racked or stored until late fall and then remounted. It is during this time that the outside elements of rain, dew and humidity, mixed with the residue of salts left over from spring washdown,
take their toll by rusting the interior of the spreader box and seizing the pinions and moveable parts of the spreader chains. This chemical corrosion of metal parts leaves expensive chains looking like "RUSTED IRON LADDERS!" Upon trying to re-start
the spreaders in the fall, the chains will not track properly or worse yet, break, creating expensive and time consuming maintenance problems. Salt conveyor chains that transfer salt to domes or storage facilities have the same critical seizure and corrosion problems!
Thus, Rhomar developed LUBRA-SEAL®, a remarkable spreader chain and box ENCAPSULANT which solves the above problems and offers the following bennefits:
Spring application -Encapsulates chains and spreader boxes for protection from rain, dew and the elements.
Dries - To a flexible polymer skin, blocking out oxygen needed for rusting and corrosion.
Soil contamination reduced - LUBRA-SEAL® will not wash off into the soil underneath spreaders.
Fall application - During operation, plates chain pinion linkage like a "million ball bearings," greatly extending chain life.
Salt Domes - eliminates frustration of frozen conveyor chains!

Rusted and frozen chains usually break with a fully loaded spreader creating costly delays in de-icing roadways. New chains cost hundreds of dollars and many manhours to replace.

Many labor intensive methods such as hammering and soaking in used motor oil are used to free frozen chains.

Eliminate expensive maintenance headaches of rusted and seized conveyor chains in salt domes or storage facilities. Many major manufacturers of conveyors recommend LUBRA-SEAL® Encapsulant to slove this critical problem.

Snow plows are vital to winter snow and ice fighting operations! Snow plows and plow blades rust and seize during summer storage causing critical maintenance problems! Rust and corrosion on blades greatly reduces blade life!

A FALL APPLICATION of LUBRA-SEAL® plates the internal pinions, like "a million ball bearings."This reduces wear and fatigue and greatly extends chain life. LUBRA-SEAL® does not wash off, reducing the hazards of soil contamination, a major E.P.A. concern.
